Key Stage 1 Computing
In computing, Year 1 have been learning what an algorithm is and programming a bluebot using the commands forwards, backwards and a turn (left or right). They've used 'treasure maps' to instruct their bluebots to get from one place to another (to find 'treasure'!) Next they'll learn how to test an algorithm and debug it if they find any mistakes.
Year 2 have moved on from their learning last year and are learning to program sprites on Scratch Jr. So far they have been working on controlling a sprite's movement by clicking different command blocks together. They have also been adding text and their own recorded sounds to help their rocket sprite to take off into space! Next they will be learning how to control more than one sprite at the same time and enable them to send messages to each other.
