The children compared containers of different shapes and sizes, using terms such as 'more' and 'less' as they talked abut their discoveries. When investigating volume, the children examined the amount of liquid that the container was holding and used mathematical vocabulary to describe the volume: full, nearly full, half full, nearly empty and empty.
