Parent Support

Working with Parents and Families

We welcome and value the contribution parents and carers are able to make towards their children's education, both at home and at school.  By working together, we can ensure that our children achieve their very best.

We encourage parents to read with their children regularly and we produce guidelines on supporting reading for each year group.  We regularly invite families into the classroom to share books and stories, which our children thoroughly enjoy.

We ask parents to keep themselves updated about school events and activities by reading the weekly newsletter, emails and using Marvellous Me.

We also have other online learning opportunities for parents to support their children at home, such as Education City and Bug Club.  Each child has an individual login and password to enable them to access these packages.  Please see our Home Learning page.

There are regular opportunities for parents and carers to come into school to find out how to support their child’s learning, and we host curriculum workshops in the Autumn and Spring terms.  Every child performs in two major productions each year – the Christmas Concert and the Summer Concert.  Due to the age of our children, it is not possible for us to accommodate younger siblings at performances.

Parents are also invited to attend an open evening, which is an informal drop-in session, and two parent consultation days, which are by appointment with your child’s teacher.

Communication

Teachers are available before and after school every day if you should you have any concerns and need to communicate with your child’s teacher.  It is generally more convenient to speak to staff at the end of each day and you may need to make an appointment if you need a longer interview.  Mrs Anderson and Mrs Beck are also available at the beginning and end of each day at the school gate.

Concerns and Complaints

If you have any concerns or complaints, we hope you will initially be able to come into school and discuss it.  You should first make an appointment with your child's class teacher.  If the matter is not easily resolved with the class teacher, the Year Group Leader and the Deputy Headteacher, then it may be referred to the Headteacher.

Should you feel the need to make a formal complaint, the governing body of the school, who are committed to ensuring that children receive the highest quality of education possible, have a procedure in place for this eventuality.  A copy of the Complaints Procedure can be found here.
