The Year 2 children have been learning about texture in Art. They have already explored outside in their playground to find objects and label them as knobbly, jagged, coarse, velvety and smooth (among many other appropriate words!) depending on their texture. This week, they continued this learning on a visit to Elmhurst Gardens! Children were very excited to learn how to make rubbings of different textures with a crayon, and collected as many as they could find to take home! They then searched for items with as many different textures as possible and used these to create a collaborative sculpture with the other children in their group! Next children will be learning different techniques to help them create different textures in their own Artwork! We were so impressed with children's behaviour and the excellent learning that took place - well done, Year 2!
