This week in Reception, the children have been exploring shape in their maths learning. They enjoyed a special ‘visit’ to an art exhibition inspired by Yayoi Kusama and Piet Mondrian, who both used shapes in their artwork. Each child received a ticket to enter the gallery and took part in rich discussions about the shapes they could see – describing their properties using words like curved, straight, angle, sides and lines. The teachers were so impressed by the children’s observations and understanding. Well done, Reception!
